Default Bring mini pets to fight Dhuum?

In a group today someone was asking to make sure we equipped our mini's before fighting Dhuum. Why? I'm sure this is a noob question. I searched the forums for an answer but could not find one.

I had killed Dhuum at least 12 times before, and nobody mentioned equipping mini pets.

Anyone know?

Perhaps the idea is that he'll use Touch of Dhuum on them as well? Increasing the number of targets meaning that you'll end up with less DP spread throughout the team? I don't believe minis are targeted by monsters though, unless there is a bug with Dhuum that someone has discovered?

What builds were everyone running? Mini's count as allies so if anyone had skills that are dependent upon the number of allies in earshot etc. then it would give an extra buff to those skills.

It was basically a mobway team
1 monk
1 Necro
4a/d's
2a/e's (who of course intentionally died instantly)

I didn't see all of their builds, but I'm unaware of any "for each ally in earshot" skills.

well it was in hopes that it did something like against the black beast in foundry room. but we're unable to really verify if it does. it still does work for a paragons leadership though.

Probably just wanted screenshots and use the mini's to make the shots look cooler.

To my eyes Dhuum does count the mini's as a place to spawn under but as to whether there is some phantom undisplayed damage from "judgment of dhuum" that would trigger PI i couldn't say. In any case it is reason to show off a mini and perhaps scare Dhuum with Zeds angry horse phallus.

According to official guild wars wiki -

"The game treats Miniature Pets as allies: they are affected by skill effects (e.g. Earthquake or "You're All Alone!"), they boost skills that increase in power through the number of allies within range (e.g. Leader's Comfort), and they contribute to energy gain due to Leadership. Like many allies, minipets cannot draw aggro. "

Because sometimes Reaping of Dhuum attacks them instead of party members, thus saving you 270ish damage. It's quite nice, actually - Several times in several clears of the UW, our team had out 8 minipets and all of them took the beating for us.

It's most likely for the Paragon's e-management. Mini pets are for some reason considered an "ally" in the game mechanics and give you additional energy per shout you use.

I don't see any "P" in there and I highly doubt the Monk or Necro had wings and would benefit from shouting at mini zheds (leadership).

Besides that a Paragon would need A LOT in Leadership to make all of them count in a party of eight.

Anyway sounds like fooling around to me but I can hear this myth spreading already ... MiniWaySC LF ZHeD to GO!!!

My apologies. I was called away before I finished my post and didn’t realize I submitted it. So in addition to my earlier comment above…

I was watching an assassin forming a hardmode Abaddon "run" one night and he was telling everyone to load minipets. His argument was since the wiki says they are affected by skills like earthquake a party of 8 all showing mini pets will double the damage caused by pain inverter.

Never tested it, don’t know if it’s true – but it seems like if it worked it’d be real popular.

Perhaps this was the logic here?

I don't know about them being affected by earthquake and such and it hurting the caster through PI. However, the sin uses one to stop the black beast from using his touch skill on him to disable skills. Thats why I was always told to use one in DoA.

I'm pretty sure that they fixed the bug (or flaw, w/e) that made mini pets killable. They can still be hit by AoE but no longer killed IIRC.

If they didn't, the Panda mini's would have been removed from the game.
